ROSALINEROSEWOODVILLE
Rosaline Woodville had never been one for PhysEd. She hated it with a passion. She hated running around in the tiny school shorts that barely covered her. She hated wearing a massively baggy polo shirt, that practically covered her shorts. She hated that she had to tie her hair up, making her unable to hide her face from other people. But most of all, she hated teamwork. To anyone, teamwork would be a great opportunity to socialise and pretend you're doing work, when really you're just gossiping about the latest couple at school. To Rose, it was a double period of ignoring people and trying to do her work. People were persistent to make her talk, though. Maybe it was how she looked, her slim, small figure, her angular face, her cheekbones prominent, making her quite striking, her creamy, pale skin, or her full, red, rouged lips that made people curious of what sort of person she was. Maybe it was the way she stood, arms hanging by her sides, feet slightly apart, her muscles tensed. She didn't know. All she knew was that everyone wanted to talk to her. She didn't know whether they were being intentionally annoying or not, but she didn't like it. So standing on the side of the football pitch, mud streaking her legs, her hair in a simple ponytail, he pale face flushed from the chill, one could see why Rose was scowling. As she was a 6th year, doing PE meant she had chosen it as one of her A Levels. She regretted it deeply, but she knew she was good at it, and with the shortage of people choosing that as an option, it was mixed. Of course, all the girls who did PE were ecstatic to know they'd be joining the boys in their lessons and the boys vice versa. All but Rose, of course. At that moment, watching everyone play football was making her angry. She was good at football, and she knew it. What the girl didn't understand, was why people who couldn't play got intothe team, and not her. She figured it was a general popularity thing. Definatley not her.

Daniel had straight up refused to take PE. Almost everyone had asked why, but he just hated the goddamn subject. Besides, he had never been a sporty kind of person. Preferring to watch rather than play. Though many of his friends had chosen the subject. And as he didn't chose it, he had a free period. However he spent it alone, always aiming to study, but never doing so. Instead he spent his free period watching any sports that were going on. It provided as one of the few sources of entertainment in the school. Daniel considered it a break from everything, just watching people run around on the field, he rarely actually payed any attention to what was happening in the game. He stayed sitting on the bench during these times, which was located on the outside of the field. Usually where people who weren't playing would sit. Though he was normally alone, and normally people wouldn't pay any attention to him, they were too engrossed in the game.

Daniel propped his head in one hand, and ran a hand through his dirty-blonde hair, pushing the few stray strands of hair out of his eyes. He looked out at everyone running around, playing, yelling out names. His eyes scanned the field, and then paused on someone who was not participating much. He knew her. She was a quiet person, most of the time seemed quite annoyed, especially now. He gazed at her, she wasn't looking at him, just at the game. He had seen many people try and talk to her; become friends. She never seemed to accept it. Daniel himself had not really bothered. She seemed quite anti-social, and if she liked it that why, then so be it. Though something about her made him want to talk to her. If he ever got the chance, he decided, he would try. It couldn't hurt to try, could it?

ROSALINEROSEWOODVILLE

Rose couldn't take it. Their team was losing, and it was because she wasn't playing. It was simple, to switch her with another player, but the team captain had refused to, so their teacher did too. She strode angrily over got sir coach, pulling up her socks as she walked, anger radiating from her body. She glared at the massive man, her finger pointed accusingly. "You know that if I was playing we'd win!" Her hair blew about madly in the wind, her shrieking piercing the ears of the man infront of her. He turned around, his face contorted into a vicious snarl. She immediately drew back, lowering her slender finger and hugging her arms across her chest. "Bench, Woodville." She didn't move. "Now!" He barked, turning back away, ignoring her. She let out a frustrated hiss, throwing her arms to her sides and storming off towards the bleachers. She muttered curse words under her breath, slamming her butt onto the bench, crossing her arms and lifting her head, trying to look not bothered. But she really was. Rose snapped her head towards her right. There was someone sitting there, not far away, a boy. She knew who he was. His name was Daniel, and he was popular. Rose grimaced. She hated popular kids. They were so full of themselves. Everything Rose wasn't. She turned away from him, edging along the bench so she wasn't so close, trying to pretend she wasn't there. Feeling self conscious, she crossed her legs, hoping to hide the fact she was wearing nonexistent shorts.

Daniel watched as she lost her temper and confronted the coach. It was far more interesting than the game. It was any normal, natural thing to do by a student; watch the conflict rather than what was supposed to be happening. It happened quickly; her confrontation didn't seem successful, as within the minute she was striding angrily towards him and the bench. He watched as she did so. She didn't seem to notice him as she sat on the bench. He tried to pretend he hadn't noticed her. He knew not two minutes ago he was thinking about talking to her when the opportunity presented itself. But he did not imagine that to be so quickly... He remained looking forward for a long minute, comtemplating how to begin a conversation. He was determind to not loose the opportuniy, when else would he have the chance, anyway? And like he just decided, it couldn't hurt.

Daniel straightened up and turned his head slowly, one glance at her almost made him jump. She was much prettier up close. Not that she wasn't pretty from a distance. Daniel had always found her pretty - but now - seeing all of her features up close. She was really, really pretty. Basically hot, as a typical way to describe a girl's look. Trying to stop himself from simply staring at her, he gave a small cough to grab her attention, then spoke, "What happened, just now?" He asked her.

ROSALINEROSEWOODVILLE

Rose scowled into her lap, fiddling with her hands, clenching her fists, angry at her coach. She jumped when Daniel spoke, turning to look at him, her face expressionless, her lips slightly parted, thinking of something to say. The girl pondered over whether to answer him, ignore him, or just scream really loudly. Sighing, she chose the first one. Couldn't do any harm. "Nothing." She said blankly. Her fingers reached up to her ponytail, furious grabbing the hair tie and pulling it out. She gently shook out her hair, putting the band onto her wrist, then taking it off, then putting it back on, then wrenching it off and throwing it on the floor, slumping her body back into the backrest of the bench. Her eyes stared at her hands wordlessly, frustration clear on her face. Her head swished towards Daniel. "They won't let me play." She rested her hands on her knees, trying to calm down. She wanted to play so badly. They never picked her, unless someone was ill, and that was rare. Fortunately, Daniel seemed to want to know what was wrong. She hardly ever talked to anyone, nobody really talked to her, so as it would with anyone, her heart longed to keep the conversation going. Unfortunately, she didn't have much experience in talking, so she sucked at it.

"Why not? You're in the team aren't you? You should play sometime, then, right...?" He asked slowly, going over it in his head. He also couldn't understand why she was so worked up about it; she seemed quite angry about it. He guessed the reason he couldn't understand why she was so upset over it was because he hated PE with all his guts. Maybe she loved it, maybe she was sick of being on the outside when she was on the outside. Maybe she just desperately wanted to play. He didn't know. He thought that since he didn't know the whole side of her story, he may as well not judge.

He looked forward, away from her gaze, and back out to the field where the game still carried on. He waited for her reply, but looked back to her before she said anything, he realised, that, despite knowing her, and seeing her around the school, he had never caught her name. He decided he may as well get it now, incase he ever wanted to talk to her again and didn't have to grab her attention by yelling random shit. "What's your name, by the way?" He asked as casually as he could.

ROSALINEROSEWOODVILLE

Rose scowled again. "They don't like me playing." She kept her answers short, trying not to throw her feelings in his face. Despite her bad mood, she was quite pleased at the seemingly genuine concern of the boy. Maybe there are some 'popular' kids with feelings. She smiled slightly, showing her gratitude for him listening. As he asked her name, she felt herself go pink. He doesn't know your name. Of course he doesn't! You've never talked to him before, just because you know his, doesn't mean he'll know yours. She cleared her throat, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Rose." She said clearly. She glanced at the pitch again, watching as her team lost, yet again.
As the whistle went for the end of the game, she heard he long, continuos sound of the bell, telling them the lesson had ended. She nodded to Daniel, and went to get changed.
That night, she came home to her parents, who ignored her as usual, and her teeny kitten, Lucifer. She didn't try talking to her parents, she just went straight to her room to tell her day to the white furry blob. Unusually, she was excited. Her encounter with Daniel had left her happy, feeling cared about, and he'd done was say a few words to her. She took her pills, as usual, hoping the happiness wasnt due to lack of medicine.
The next day, she didn't have PE. And as anyone would, who had had the attention the boy had given her the day before, she wanted to see him. She knew which classes they had together, which was one, Religious Studies. Rose was quite concerned about wanting to talk to him, because she didn't want to get too attached, so that she could just blank him, one time after getting too close. She couldn't handle it.
So sitting alone in her RS class, as usual, she doodled on her book, knowing the lesson would be dreadfully boring. She was alarmed when a seat was pulled up next to her, a frown expressing on her face, showing her discomfort.
